The Art Vinyl Gallery on East London's Broadway Market (E8) is a unique space designed to celebrate art & graphic design created specifically for vinyl records. The Gallery hosts record cover exhibitions that change every two weeks as a different band, artist or record label take the opportunity to curate this original space. These exhibitions showcase vinyl cover art which celebrate the synergy that exists between art and music.
Little sister of famous Ace records Kent records released its first LP in 1982 "For Dancers Only" featuring Northern Soul Stompers, girl group floaters, male group harmony and Rhythm & Blues. The label would go on to be the best loved soul re-issue imprint in Europe and would expand it's black music horizons as far as Mod Jazz, Deep Soul, Southern Soul, 70s soul, New Breed R&B and funk.
This unique exhibition brings together 36 pieces of unique graphic design which captured the energy and passion contained in these soul classics. To accompany this exhibition will be some classic northern soul disc jockeys on the decks for the private view and on Saturday the 29th from 2 pm. The private view for this exhibition will be on Thursday Sept 27th from 6 pm. If you would like to attend please email info@artvinyl.com or call 0207 2414129 for more information.
